Have you ever looked for a bill you have to pay? You know that you’ve put it somewhere but you can’t find it? Or… You need an important document and you’re sure it is in a particular drawer but you just can’t find it? Or… You’ve forgotten the PIN number of your credit card and you know it’s in the box but you simply can’t find it?
In order to save time, money and reduce stress it’s a good idea to file your documents into folders.

Filing documents in order of importance will make it easier for you to find the necessary documents quickly. For example, you could file your documents, which need a fast reply or bills you have to pay soon, into so-called action folders. You can use a plastic folder with sections for this purpose. Why not use a sticker to mark each section and its contents?

Basic documents like social security and credit cards documents, bank statements and various receipts are best kept in a cabinet, a drawer, a box or a special folder – don’t forget to write what’s inside.

It’s a good idea to put the documents that should be kept for a longer period of time into a separate folder. It could contain copies of tax returns, insurance policies, medical documents and copies of legal documents.
It’s advisable to keep them in cabinets or special boxes to protect them for a longer period of time.

However, in order to avoid clutter, it’s best to sort out your mail every day.
Throw away any unnecessary brochures, ads and fliers right away, and file everything else into appropriate folders.
